Following is a list of some other sites I like to visit:
- In the process of trying to improve my Java skills, I found this online tutorial for Java: Advanced Java Programming Tutorial . It has a whole list of links to advanced Java programming topics.
- Click here to view my son's web page. I think he used one of those tools to create his.
- Finally, since I am such a reptile fan, I simply must include some links to some good turtle and tortoise sites.
- The California Desert Tortoise, Gopherus agassizii, is the state reptile of California. Desert tortoises are protected by law and should never be removed from the wild. A permit issued by the California Department of Fish and Game is required to legally own a Desert Tortoise. Captive tortoises can be legally adopted through the California Turtle and Tortoise Club, the San Diego Turtle and Tortoise Society, or more locally, the Bay Area Turtle and Tortoise Rescue Center (no web page).
- The African Spurred Tortoise, Geochelone sulcata, is the largest mainland tortoise species in the world (Galapagos tortoises are considered island tortoises), and the third largest land tortoise in the world. They can grow to be 3 feel long and weigh over 200 pounds! Our two are still young and weigh only about 8-9 ponds. So, how does one keep a tortoise like that? Here are a couple of stories I ran across on the web: Living with sulcata and Rocky - She's a moving rock!.
- The Turtle Times has a web page that has a photo contest for turtle photos. When I get a little more practice at taking pictures, I may enter a couple of pictures of my turtles and see how they do.
- While browsing the Internet, I found this page, Draybar's Turtle Page. This fellow owns many different species of aquatic turtles, and has pictures of his turtles and the habitats he has created for them. Maybe some day my page will look like this.
