Red-Eared Sliders Hi. My name is Grazelda (short for "Great Big Zelda"). I am a Red-Eared Slider, Trachemys scripta to scientists.

And these are two of my friends, Baby ...

and Millie.

They are Red-Eared Sliders too. We are the most common turtle found in pet stores. When we are born, we are about the size of a quarter and very green. We can grow to be dinner-plate-size, and weigh 2-3 pounds.

Our natural home is in the warm fresh water ponds of the southern United States, but we can now be found in many countries all over the world. We like to eat many things, from fruits and vegetables to slugs and worms and goldfish. We also eat turtle pellets and dry cat food.
